- SPECS -
WHAT SETS OUR HALFERLAND ULTRA PISTON RINGS APART FROM OEM OR COMPETITION??
- Precision PreGapped From the Factory to OEM Specs-
If you are staying NA you don't need to do anything but install them. If you are running a higher HP setup, please refer to our suggest ring end gap per HP chart listed below and gap the rings appropriately.
- Top Ring Material and Finish -
When it comes to the combustion of an engine, the top piston ring handles the majority of the pressures and take the biggest beating. Our HalferLand Ultra Performance Top Rings are made from hardened Forged Carbon Steel, along with a hardened Barrel chrome face.
Forged Carbon steel is one of the best material to be used for a high performance street, strip or track applications
that will see High cylinder pressures, such as high compression, forced induction, nitrous, and high rpm engines. Taking it a step further the hardened chrome face holds up to high temperatures and vibrations than stock or commonly found aftermarket ring set..... while also reducing overall drag or friction of the pistons rings on the cylinder walls, in turn increasing power over the standard OEM rings by allowing the engine to rev more freely and efficiently. The Chrome face will also reduce the chance of cylinder
scoring from any debris, making them great for sand rails, dirt track applications, or open element applications (No filter, ITB's or Turbo/Supercharger as we run our, only utilizing a Turbo Guard, No filter), and even OEM NA from the traits listed above (Carbon Steel, Reduced Friction on Rotating assembly, etc.)
- The Barrel face of the ring ensures the highest possible ring face contact pressure which helps
improve gas and oil control/sealing, reducing the chances of blow by and loss of power
- Second Ring - Hardened Ductile Iron - Ensuring a strong second ring and scraper ring
are very important to an overall setup, with ductile iron being one of the best second ring materials possible
for reducing oil blow by and is twice as strong as a Grey or Mild steel others use.
- Third Ring/ Oil control ring - As our first/top ring, we utilize Carbon steel with a hardened chrome face (reduced drag)
for the two followers/keeper rings (the rings that sit on top and bottom of the oil control ring) while utilizing a
standard flex stainless steel oil control ring.

INSTALLATION/PISTON RING END GAP
- PISTON RING GAP PER HORSEPOWER RANGE-
PLEASE REFER BELOW TO OUR "GENERAL" SPECS TO MAKE SURE YOU GAP YOUR PISTON RINGS APPROPRIATELY TO YOUR HP LEVEL. ALL PISTON RINGS WILL HEAT UP, THUS CAUSING THEM TO EXPAND AND ULTIMATELY BUTT, WHICH CAN BREAK YOUR PISTON RING LANDS. TO AVOID THIS PROPER GAPPING IS REQUIRED

This is NOT A "RULE ALL" EXAMPLE but is the general rule of thumb....it's the customer responsibility to understand, research and set their ring gap appropriately
- Stock to 350-400whp = Safe to leave them alone, standard gap
- 450whp-700whp =
Top Ring = Bore Diameter (Inches) X .007"
Second Ring = Bore Dia. (Inches) X .008
750WHP-1000whp(General Rule, Seek guidance from engine builder)
Top Ring = Bore Diameter X .008-.009
Second Ring = Bore Diameter X .009-.010
