* Note * Both the Nuts and Studs are double shot peened for added overall strength. Some customers have mistakenly thought they were imperfections in the parts, which they are not. If you do not know what shot peening is, please look it up online. We have taken every measure to ensure the highest quality and afford J-Series Stud on the market, which includes the shot peening process to all of our HalferLand Performance studs and nuts. 

Well Guys/Gals, we had something in the works for over the past year and half (2022) and with COVID and limited supplies of just about everything, including good metals (even hardware stores are running out of Grade 8 bolts) it took some doing, time and mostly $$. We are proud to announce our HalferLand Performance Honda J-Series 8740 Chromoly Head Studs. They are slightly different then what you see on the market, with ARP 8740's (180,000psi rating) running around $320+ then add shipping onto that, and ARP2000's running $430+ (220,000 psi rating).....our HalferLand Performance Honda J-Series 8740 Chromoly Head Studs are 300-1000hp+ capable, 200,000psi rated MADE IN THE USA with our partner manufacturer that specializes in 2000+whp Diesel Performance engines so you know they can make a product to last. They are perfect not just for all high horsepower builds but also ANY rebuild, even NA 300whp or below setups. As you know, one major hurdle with any engine is a good cylinder head to block seal, regardless of power level. Stock head bolts are torque to yield, meaning once stretched to OEM torque specs that's it, they can no longer be used. Our HalferLand Performance Honda J Series Chromoly head studs are just that, Studs,  which apply a higher clamping force opposed to bolts that twist down to tighten, with head studs the nut is what applies the directly downward pressure/clamping load, not a twisting pressure as bolts do. So even a NA 300whp build will benefit from adding our HalferLand Performance Chromoly Cylinder Head Studs. On top of that, they are also engineered to withstand 200,000psi of tensile strength or pressures, allowing for as much as 1000+HP.

- INSTALLATION -

- NOTE The beveled/flared course threaded end of the stud is down and installs into the block. The finer/thinner threading is up or the head/nut side. 

- PRE-INSTALL - Clean all thread with a brush or cleaner to assure all dirt and debris is removed to prevent any sticking or binding when tightening, reassuring a proper torque reading

- LUBE - Be sure to use the provided thread torque lube on the top side (Allen Key side that gets the nuts and washer) threads to prevent binding during install..THE BLOCK SIDE THREADS CAN BE INSTALLED DRY 

- TORQUE SPECS - Please adhere to OEM Torque specs. For higher horsepower setups or if you simply want a larger clamping load, you may torque over stock specs, according to your requirements and to our torque specs suggestions below. Additional torque added to the stud will have a multiplying effect to clamping load, so it doesn't take much. Studs alone with a directly downward clamping load already exceed oem bolts. Adding even 5 ft lbs over stock will far surpass OEM clamping loads for higher HP engines/Setups. 
Please refer to the last photo in the listing for our HalferLand Head Studs Installation Torque Sequence/Steps and also our "Higher load setup" torque specs below.

- STUD INTO BLOCK - When installing the stud into the block (flared end down) you will see a allen key style hole to help with tightening (Allen key side up). It's important not to overtorque them. You should bottom the stud out into the block and then BACK OFF (yes, loosen) the stud 1/4 to a 1/2 turn out. Remember, unlike bolts the stud is getting it's clamping force from the nut directly downward. Fully tightening the stud into the block can lead to sticking over time making them difficult to remove (this goes for all brands of head studs) and if the stud moves during tightening you could run the risk of overtightening into the softer aluminum block causing damage. NOTE - IF THE STUD MOVES IN THE BLOCK DURING TIGHTENING/ TORQUING THE HEADS, ITS BEST TO LOSSEN AND RESET THE STUD IN THE BLOCK AND START OVER..THIS ENSURES A PROPER TORQUE PATTERN AND EVEN CLAMPING LOAD ACROSS THE ENTIRE HEAD.

TORQUE SPECS

Please follow the OEM Torque Spec’s and Sequence when installing our HLP Head Studs. Below you'll find our suggested torque specs based off of your setup. Please refer to your repair manual for the torque sequence, torque specs and suggested range for our head studs is below.

OEM Steps = Step 1 = 29 ft lbs   Step 2 = 51 ft lbs   Step 3 = 73 ft lbs

300-450whp   = Step 1 = 29 ft lbs   Step 2 = 51 ft lbs   Step 3 = 80 ft lbs

Beyond the 450whp torque specs, due to higher clamping loads extra stud stretching may occur or cause for faster replacement times. Always check stretch before re-using. This holds true for all bolt and studs, not just ours.

500whp-750whp = Step 1 = 29 ft lbs   Step 2 = 51 ft lbs   Step 3 = 85 ft lbs

800-1000whp and Up = Step 1 = 29 ft lbs   Step 2 = 51 ft lbs   Step 3 = 90 ft lbs

- There are no returns accepted for any Port and Polish parts, due to the parts being modified and unable to be returned to their stock/original condition. There is no exception to this policy...EVER.

- If the customer selected to have HalferLand Performance source/provide a core part(s) and chooses to cancel their order prior to shipping or starting the modifications/porting, a 20% part cost restocking/sourcing fee will be assessed from the credit/return. Example, the core part provided cost $100, a 20% Restock/Sourcing fee of $20 will be deducted from the credit of the order. This is due to our cost to source, purchase, clean the part and now the order being cancelled, we now are forced to sit on the part with direct order being associated with it or that we can use it for. 

- Order Cancelling may be done prior to the start of any modification or work and before shipping. If the parts modifications has already been begun or the parts has shipped, then the order cannot be canceled and will be filled/finished accordingly. If its a non PnP part and the order ships, the customer is responsible for returning the part/order using their preferred carrier. Our (28) Day Return Policy guidelines remain, parts must be returned in original packaging, never installed, modified or damaged.

Top Notch
I just installed these into my J32a2 CL. They are great quality, on par when compared to ARP 2000's which were about $150 more. I'll probably pick up another set. I run a 200-250shot depending on the race conditions or track and go through heads stud. Yes they can be reused but only so much, be sure to check the stretch. These didn't stretch at all compared to stock bolts, even after going 10ft lbs over stock torque specs and is what I usually do with all studs. So far there perfect, and being guaranteed to 800hp isn't a bad thing

ARP worthy
These are great quality, compared to our older ARP's can't tell the difference. They bolted up well, solid seal and smooth torquing haven't had a chance to push them too hard but my J35a4 was making 535whp on 22psi and I haven't touched the tune or boost so the studs are holding what ARP's we're. Only have one weekend of racing on them, I would say around 8 or 10 quarter miles digs so far. Would definitely recommend, being true ARP2000 are $400+

700whp EK swap
These appear to be great quality. I rebuilt my 700hp Civic EK with a 66m Borg Warner and they installed perfectly. I torqued them down 10psi harder and they been running great thus far over the past month. I haven't done any drag events but have made a lot of street passes and their holding up great. A+

Quaility product
As I've come to expect, HalferLand provided another very high quaility part at an affordable price. They installed well and with zero issues. They actually had less binding then my old ARP, not sure why but they did, maybe it's the lube they provide IDK. But overall another home run and must buy. For nearly the cost of OEM bolts why not upgrade to a part that will take 400hp for a lifetime and handle 1000hp, it's a no brainer

More affordable than ARP
I've ran ARP since I have been building Engines. Arp some reason are getting harder to find but mostly way more expensive. I've been running these for about a month with zero issue with an Eaton M90 on my J35 making 397whp. I work on base so I don't get much time to drive but when I do I'm not easy on the motor at all and these are holding just as well as my ARP2000's did. Another great parts HalferLand

Another great affordable Jseries performance part
Personally I've had incredible experience with HLP. There customer service has been great, helpful and insightful. Even helping me with deeper dive questions for my build. Initially I wanted 600hp to the wheels but they advised me due to trans limitations the safer limit would be 500 at the wheel. Well, I had all winter last year to get the car ready, missed most of summer but my 92 Civic Coupe with a J35a3 is finished and running all of HLP lower end parts, their block guards, rods, pistons and now studs. Matched with the built heads they did for me, basically their Stage 2 cams, spring and retainer package, I just got Dyno tuned and made more then I was trying to. So the very first conservative first pull made 565 and 440 on 14psi. I swapped the waste gate spring to 8lbs which was the lightest the tuner had on hand, some more timing and it made 500whp right on the nose ?? HLP really does offer amazing products and they shine when paired together. Thank you guys!
